Sophia is sitting at the dining-table with Iris. Her younger sister, Lisa, is not present. “She doesn’t feel well” says Sophia.

“She told me, you know…” says Iris. “…everything that happened that night. How you let her go swimming all alone, so you could meet that young man flirting with you. The body of your little sister in the water, did you look for a long time?” These remarks make Sophia angry and sad.

“And you?” says Sophia. “What did you do to be in this house? You’ve been here a long time.”

“I stopped counting. You’ll see. One day, you too, will stop counting.
