She takes all the dust covers off and uprights the furniture. As it begins to darken she occasionally hears thuds coming from the cellar area.

Anna tries the door that leads to the cellar. It is locked. She tries every key in the bunch she has. None of them work. Out of morbid curiosity she decides to kneel down and look through the keyhole of the cellar stairs door. She sees just emptiness. But she experiences a chill.
